Sindh schools close Nov 9 for Allama Iqbal birth anniversary
The Sindh government announced a public holiday for all schools on November 9 to mark the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Official notification issued Wednesday
The School Education and Literacy Department released a directive on Wednesday regarding the closure of educational institutions. This decision follows a resolution adopted at a Steering Committee on Education meeting held on February 12.
Scope covers public and private schools
All educational institutions under the administrative control of the department will remain closed across the province. Regional directors were instructed to ensure the notification reached every relevant educational institution immediately.
Historical context for the holiday
Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot and served as Pakistan's ideological founder. The interior ministry cancelled the annual holiday in 2015 before Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif restored it in 2022.
