Sindh government launches digital classrooms and satellite schools for special children
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced new educational measures for special children in Karachi on September 22.
Current student numbers and support
Approximately 20,000 students currently study in 67 special educational institutions across the province. The government provides free education along with rehabilitation, physiotherapy, speech therapy, transport, and a monthly stipend of Rs 3,000.
New digital classrooms and tools
Officials established 49 modern digital classrooms in 37 Special Education and Rehabilitation Centres. These facilities include smart boards and e-learning tools to benefit about 754 hearing-impaired students who previously faced access difficulties.
Satellite schools and teacher training
Twenty satellite schools have been set up across Sindh to reach areas with limited access to special education centres. A Sign Language Teachers Training Programme has also been launched to increase professional capacity in the sector.
