Punjab police in Lahore start using body cameras for accountability

Training and equipment rollout

Training for the field force has been completed before the project began. Docking stations are currently being installed at police stations across the city. The devices will be worn by Punjab Police, Highway Patrol, Dolphin Force, and traffic wardens.

Smart Safe City links

The cameras connect to Smart Safe City systems operating in 43 cities throughout the province. Facial recognition technology helps identify suspects while vehicle number plates are read automatically. An SOS button allows officers to send emergency alerts directly from the field.

Data storage and transfer

Recordings stored in built-in memory transfer automatically to secure systems after shifts end. Officers must return the cameras to designated docking points upon completing their duty. The system also enables push-to-talk communication between officers and control rooms.
