Punjab IG orders enhanced security for churches ahead of prayer services
Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Karim directed police officers to strengthen security at churches across the province on Sunday.
Directives issued to regional and district officers
The inspector general instructed all Regional Police Officers and District Police Officers to further strengthen arrangements. Supervisory officers were told to personally inspect security setups at churches and other sensitive locations.
Additional personnel deployed for patrolling duties
Police Response Unit teams and the Dolphin Squad will ensure effective patrolling around church premises. Snipers have been ordered to deploy at sensitive sites while officers remain vigilant against suspicious activities.
Search operations continue in Christian localities
The IGP ordered that search and sweep operations must continue around churches and important areas. Religious scholars and peace committee members were also asked to promote harmony between communities.
