Punjab Excise Department to collect sanitation fees from urban areas starting fiscal year 2026-27
The Punjab government signed an agreement on Wednesday for the Excise and Taxation Department to collect uniform sanitation fees in all urban areas of the province beginning in the 2026-27 financial year.

Officials from the Suthra Punjab Authority and the Excise and Taxation Department signed a formal service-level agreement on Wednesday. The meeting included additional directors Rizwanul Haq and Ahmed Saeed who oversaw the process. This partnership will handle door-to-door surveys, printing bills, and managing complaints related to sanitation charges.
Fee structure for residential properties
Residential properties up to five marlas will pay Rs 300 per month, while those between five and 10 marlas will pay Rs 500. Houses measuring 10 to 20 marlas face a monthly charge of Rs 1,000, and properties between 20 and 40 marlas pay Rs 2,000. Large residential units exceeding 40 marlas are set to be charged Rs 5,000 monthly.
Commercial rates and service charges
Small commercial units will incur a fee of Rs 500 per month, medium-sized units Rs 1,000, and large units Rs 3,000. The Excise department will receive a one percent service charge for collecting these fees through the finance department. Previous bills remain under recovery by the Suthra Punjab Authority while new collections start in the next fiscal year.
