Meeting directives on railway upgrades

The Prime Minister presided over a review meeting regarding reforms in Pakistan Railways held in Islamabad. He instructed authorities to expedite work on upgrading the Main Line-1, which stretches from Peshawar to Karachi. The project aims to modernise existing infrastructure to improve both passenger travel facilities and freight transport capacity.

Funding strategy for construction

Officials were told that construction should be undertaken on a commercial basis by utilising identified lands worth billions of rupees. The Prime Minister commended teams from the National Accountability Bureau and the Ministry of Railways for identifying encroached properties. He approved the utilisation of bank funding to support the construction efforts for this crucial corridor project.

Goal for economic self-sufficiency
