Pakistan PM orders doubling of SME financing to Rs2.2 trillion by 2028
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Monday directed that small and medium enterprise loans rise from Rs1.1 trillion to Rs2.2 trillion by 2028.

Meeting focused on SMEDA reforms
The prime minister chaired a meeting regarding reforms at the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority. Officials briefed him on plans to transform the agency into a central platform for training entrepreneurs. These changes aim to facilitate easier access to bank financing for aspiring business owners.
Strategy targets underdeveloped regions
Sharif directed SMEDA to create a comprehensive strategy that raises awareness about available business loans. He also ordered feasibility studies for new sectors to be prepared by experts and translated into local languages. Providing opportunities in less-developed areas is intended to reduce migration from rural regions to major cities.
