Pakistan Navy submarine PNS/M Hangor fires missile in Arabian Sea
The Pakistan Navy's newly inducted Hangor-class submarine conducted its maiden live weapon firing in the North Arabian Sea on Sunday.
Missile strike hits target
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf witnessed the exercise from the sea. The vessel launched an anti-ship cruise missile that struck a designated long-range target with precision.
Leadership praises combat power
Admiral Ashraf described the event as a major demonstration of operational readiness for the fleet. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari both congratulated the navy on the successful test.
Fleet modernisation continues
PNS/M Hangor is the first of eight submarines being acquired from China under a fleet modernisation programme. The submarine arrived at Karachi Port in June after its commissioning ceremony in Sanya, China.
