Pakistan climbs five spots in global gender gap index report

Overall ranking and parity score

The country recorded its greatest year-on-year improvement in a decade with an overall gender parity score of 59.5%. This figure represents an increase from 56.7% in the previous year while narrowing the total gap by 5.2% since 2006.

Improvements across four pillars

Pakistan advanced eleven positions in educational attainment and political empowerment, which were the areas showing the most substantial gains. The nation also improved its standing in economic participation and opportunity despite remaining the weakest-performing pillar overall.

Regional and global context

The report includes Pakistan among the lowest-ranked economies globally and places it third-to-last within South Asia. It scored last in the region for economic participation while achieving a record parity score of 91.7% for education.
