NDMA warns of flash floods in northern Pakistan through Sept 30
The National Disaster Management Authority issued an alert on Friday for heavy rains and potential flash floods across upper regions from September 25 to 30.
Western system intensifies on Tuesday and Wednesday
The NEOC stated that a westerly weather system would increase in intensity on September 25 and 26. This development could trigger flash floods in mountainous areas and local streams throughout the affected provinces.
Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK face specific flood risks
Authorities identified Astore, Skardu, Roundu, Ghanche and Shigar in Gilgit-Baltistan as vulnerable to flooding. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Neelum Valley, Haveli, Poonch and Sudhanoti are also at risk.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts under weather alert
Areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Swat, Bajaur, Dir, Kohistan, Kolai-Palas, Battagram and Mansehra face potential flooding. Heavy thunderstorms and possible hailstorms are expected in Potohar, Punjab and various parts of the province through September 30.
