Karachi Port reaches record shipping connectivity index in second quarter

Index score climbs to new peak

The Port Liner Shipping Connectivity Index rose from 309.81 in the first quarter to 343.02 in the second quarter of 2026. This figure represents the highest level recorded during the period covered by the available data according to a government statement.

Global network integration improves

The index measures how well the port integrates into a global liner shipping network that covers approximately 900 ports worldwide. The minister stated that stronger connectivity with international services supports trade flows and provides better access to global markets for exporters.

National ranking moves up one spot

Pakistan's overall Liner Shipping Connectivity Index ranking improved from 35th to 34th during this reporting period. Officials noted that the government continues to work on improving port services to facilitate further shipping activity.
