Karachi officials launch water pipeline project for Defence Housing Authority
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab and Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah laid the foundation stone for a new water supply project in the Defence Housing Authority on Tuesday.
Water pipeline construction details
The Frontier Works Organisation will complete an 800mm-diameter pipeline with support from the Sindh government. Authorities set an 18-month timeline for finishing the work by next September or October. The project aims to deliver 10 million gallons of water daily directly to residents homes.
Road improvement plans announced
The Frontier Works Organisation is also collaborating with the Sindh government on road projects to reduce traffic congestion. Officials plan an underpass or flyover at the intersection of Khayaban-i-Ittehad and Khayaban-i-Hafiz. These schemes were floated during a meeting with DHA residents on Saturday.
Project cost and funding
The total cost for the water supply scheme is estimated at Rs15 billion. The Cantonment Board Clifton has partnered with the provincial government to assist in delivery. Various officials including MNA Mirza Ikhtiar Baig attended the foundation stone laying ceremony.
