Jamaat-i-Islami launches third phase of petroleum levy protest campaign
Jamaat-i-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman announced a new phase of protests against the petroleum levy on Friday in Karachi.

Nationwide demonstrations planned across Pakistan
The party plans sit-ins and demonstrations at more than 150 locations throughout the country. Hafiz Naeem stated that motorists currently pay around Rs130 in taxes on every litre of petrol, with Rs80 specifically designated as the petroleum levy.
Threatened march to capital city
Leaders warned that a long march to Islamabad will occur if the government fails to provide relief. The group claims removing this tax burden could lower petrol prices by more than Rs100 per litre.
Criticism of other political parties
The chief criticized major parties including PML-N, PPP and MQM for failing to resolve public issues. He argued that the current government relief package is insufficient compared to the needs of the people facing severe inflation.
