Jamaat-e-Islami plans Islamabad march in mid-November despite ongoing talks with government
Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announced on Tuesday that the party will hold its protest march in Islamabad in mid-November after meeting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Meeting outcome and timeline
The JI chief stated that preparations for mobilisation across the country would continue immediately. He confirmed that further discussions with the government are still underway while the march date remains fixed.
Disagreement on levy relief
Both sides agreed to expand the scope of relief but could not agree on how it should be delivered. The party demands immediate abolition of the petroleum levy, whereas the government proposes a phased approach to elimination.
Conditions for the protest
JI officials said they would sit on the road to talk if the government fails to announce a package by then. The party leadership insists that any relief measures must provide greater benefit to lower-income classes before the march begins.
