Islamabad High Court defers Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi appeals in Al-Qadir Trust case
The Islamabad High Court has deferred the criminal appeals of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi regarding their convictions in the Al-Qadir Trust case on Monday.
Legal team requests adjournment
Barrister Salman Safdar asked for a delay because meetings with his clients were not being arranged. He noted that Imran Khan is in custody while Bushra Bibi has not seen counsel since December 2025. The lawyer argued that hearing the appeals now would conflict with pending proceedings before the Federal Constitutional Court.
Federal court seeks early hearing
On Tuesday, senior PTI lawyers approached the Federal Constitutional Court to request an early fixation of Bushra Bibi's appeal. The delegation led by Salman Akram Raja asked the court office to register and fix the case quickly. An advocate confirmed that the appeal would be numbered within the week without filing a fresh written application.
Case background and charges
The former first lady received a seven-year sentence in January last year for giving undue favours to Malik Riaz. Both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were found guilty of helping retrieve laundered money from the United Kingdom. The Islamabad High Court dismissed their earlier requests to suspend her sentence in May 2026.
