Islamabad High Court chief justice orders new bench for Judicial Commission case
The Islamabad High Court chief justice directed a new bench to hear a petition challenging a Judicial Commission decision on Friday in Islamabad.

Chief Justice withdraws from hearing
Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar stated he could not preside over the case because he is part of the Judicial Commission. He explained that continuing would create an impression of favouritism regarding the April 28 ruling. The court office also raised objections during the proceedings before the chief justice issued his direction.
Petition seeks annulment of order
The legal team filed a writ petition under Article 199 of the Constitution to cancel the commission's resolution. They argue that vacancies from judge transfers must be filled through fresh appointments rather than further transfers. The petition lists the Federation, the President and the Prime Minister as respondents in this constitutional matter.
New bench will review file
A separate group of judges will now examine the arguments presented by both sides on the specific legal points. This new panel will determine if the commission acted within its powers when issuing the resolution last month. The court expects the fresh bench to address the claims regarding Articles 4, 25 and 175-A.
