Islamabad administration imposes Section 144 order ahead of planned protests
The Islamabad district administration imposed a two-month Section 144 ban on gatherings in the capital on Wednesday as political groups prepare for demonstrations.
Order issued by magistrate
Additional District Magistrate Dr Anam Fatima issued the directive on September 18. The order remains in force for two months starting immediately. It bars rallies, processions, and demonstrations at any public place within the territory.
Reasons for restrictions
Authorities cited reports that certain segments of society planned unlawful assemblies including religious processions. The administration stated these activities could disrupt public peace and tranquillity. Officials warned that such events might endanger human life and safety while threatening public property.
Citizens urged to comply
The administration asked citizens to refrain from unlawful gatherings and cooperate with security institutions. The directive prohibits meetings of five or more people at any location. This includes areas within the Red Zone limits of the district.
