Pakistan cuts petrol and diesel prices for October 1
The federal government in Pakistan reduced petrol and high-speed diesel prices effective Thursday, October 1.
New rates take effect today
Petrol will now retail at Rs387.40 per litre after a reduction of 14 paisas. High-speed diesel costs Rs400.35 per litre following a cut of Rs1.89 from the previous rate. These adjustments follow notifications issued by the Petroleum Division on Wednesday.
Previous price changes noted
The government had lowered fuel prices by Rs1.49 for petrol and Rs2.73 for diesel on September 30. This latest revision continues a series of adjustments driven by global market volatility and US-Iran tensions.
Relief scheme details
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif previously announced a relief scheme offering Rs100 per litre off for specific vehicle categories. An estimated 11.8 million beneficiaries are expected to receive this subsidy under the proposed plan.
