Woman told she had anxiety but later diagnosed with breast cancer
Beth Jenkins from Merthyr Tydfil visited a GP in October 2024 after noticing a growing lump and was told to seek a second appointment following her diagnosis.

Initial concerns dismissed as anxiety
The mother of two first noticed a small lump in her right breast in 2018. An ultrasound suggested the growth was glandular tissue and no biopsy took place at that time. When she returned in October 2024, a locum GP told her she was too young for cancer and suggested medical anxiety instead.
Diagnosis reveals advanced disease
Beth Jenkins later received a diagnosis of lobular breast cancer with a tumour measuring five centimetres. The condition had spread to three lymph nodes by the time she saw specialists. Her practice stated it could not discuss individual cases but advised patients to make another appointment if they have health concerns.
