Swimmer overcomes grief during trip

The participant joined SwimTrek, a company based in Brighton that offers guided open-water swim tours. She arrived feeling lost and anxious after her mother died unexpectedly in June 2024. The group planned to complete a total distance of 25km over five days.

Feeling shifts while entering water

Before getting into the sea, the swimmer felt fogged and lacked energy for the challenge ahead. Once she entered the blue-green water near Kaş, a knot in her throat began to loosen. Her breathing improved and she felt a sense of respite during the activity.

Marine life offers calm moments

Fish glided beneath the surface while a turtle navigated around a rock on the seabed. The swimmer hugged the coastline of Turkey's Lycian Way as she moved forward slowly. She described the experience as uplifting and more than just a holiday.
