Significant steps are currently underway to implement these revolutionary measures within the provincial health system.
Reduction in waiting lists
Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that patient waiting lists have dropped significantly for adult cardiac care and cancer treatments. Free facilities worth Rs 3 billion annually support heart patients under the Adult Cardiac Surgery Program. Cancer patients receive diagnosis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, and medical therapy at an annual cost of Rs 10 billion.
Specific programs for stroke care
The government also provides free treatment facilities under the Special Initiative for Stroke Management. These historic measures aim to reduce costs for patients requiring dialysis, pediatric heart surgery, and transplants. All services are delivered through empanelled hospitals across the province.
