Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif addressed health priorities and cardiac infrastructure plans in Lahore on World Heart Day.
Commitment to district hospital upgrades
The chief minister stated that prevention is better than cure for heart diseases. She directed the establishment of cath labs in eight districts by November and seven more by February.
Successful procedures at existing sites
Medical teams performed successful operations on 7,294 patients across six districts including Jhelum and Kasur. Angiography was conducted on 4,448 individuals while 2,763 received angioplasty treatments.
Free treatment and screening services
The administration ensures free medicines, stents, and bypass surgeries for heart patients at designated hospitals. Field hospitals also conduct free blood pressure and sugar screenings using mobile clinics.
