Canadian break led to collapse

The Duke of Sussex spent late 2019 living in British Columbia with his wife and son. He stated that stepping away from royal duties was intended to provide space for reflection. Within two or three days, he reported feeling unable to function without the stress he previously endured.

Depression lasted for two weeks

Harry described slipping into depression for approximately two weeks during this period. He felt useless around the house and believed his brain required adrenaline to operate properly. This state of mind occurred before the couple announced their intention to step back from senior roles in January 2020.

New video shares personal insight

The discussion appears in a MasterClass titled Redefining Grief: Building Resilience Through Loss. Harry joins neuroscientist Dr Mary-Frances O'Connor to talk about loss and resilience. The content details his feelings before the family relocated to the United States.
