Health risks explained by experts

Endocrinologists described the condition as a serious medical issue affecting nearly every organ. Data presented showed knee osteoarthritis impacts 52 percent of people with excess weight. Hypertension affects 51 percent while sleep apnea occurs in 40 percent of this group.

Doctors urge lifestyle changes

More than 1,100 doctors from Sindh and other regions attended the event to discuss these findings. Experts noted that one in four Pakistanis currently lives with obesity. Many patients do not realize they are overweight until serious complications develop.

Causes include urbanization and diet

Urbanization and sedentary lifestyles contribute to the growing burden of this chronic condition. Sugary drinks and energy-dense foods also play a major role in the problem. Insufficient physical activity remains another key factor driving these health issues.
