Doctors warn of severe health risks

More than 1,100 doctors from Sindh and other regions gathered for the event. Experts stated that obesity affects nearly every organ in the human body. Dr Abbas Raza noted that one in four Pakistanis currently lives with this condition.

Common complications include heart issues

Data presented showed hypertension impacts 51 percent of people living with excess weight. Knee osteoarthritis was found in 52 percent of the affected population. Major depression appeared in 19 percent of those carrying extra weight.

Lifestyle factors drive the burden

Urbanization and sedentary habits contribute to the growing problem across the country. Sugary drinks and energy-dense foods also play a major role in these trends. Many patients do not consider themselves overweight until serious complications develop.
