Collingwood player Nick Daicos shared his first Brownlow Medal victory with six-year-old cancer patient Logan at the award ceremony.
Daicos claims historic medal record
The 23-year-old Collingwood forward won the award with a record-breaking 47 votes. He stated on stage that he was privileged to receive the top AFL honour.
Friendship formed through Make-A-Wish
Daicos and Logan met when the boy participated in a Make-A-Wish experience earlier this year. The pair developed a close bond after Daicos reached out to keep in touch once the wish concluded.
Logan watches medal presentation live
The six-year-old patient stayed awake late into the night to watch his friend receive the award. Logan told reporters he felt happy and excited about being part of Daicos big celebration.
