Court rejects restrictive rules

Judge Richard D. Stearns ruled that the federal government's definition of medically frail individuals was too restrictive. The court determined that states lacked adequate time or resources to overhaul their eligibility systems before the start of the year.

States seek injunction

Over two dozen states filed a suit arguing that implementation would cause irreparable harm to vulnerable people. The judge agreed and issued the permanent injunction requested by the states to prevent disenrollment of eligible individuals.
