Experts confirm hangxiety is a real condition affecting drinkers
Medical experts explain that alcohol-induced anxiety known as hangxiety affects millions of people after nights out in the UK and elsewhere.

Symptoms appear after drinking
People wake up with a throbbing head and a low sense of horror about their previous actions. They often scroll through messages to check if they said something wrong or offended someone. This anxiety can seep into everything the person does beyond just reliving the night before.
Science explains the cause
Alcohol affects two chemical messengers in the brain called GABA and glutamate. The substance enhances the effects of GABA while suppressing some glutamate activity to produce relaxation. The brain is constantly trying to restore balance after these chemicals are disrupted.
