Branch staff refused vehicle keys

The collection desk at Carcassonne airport did not hand over the rental keys when the customer presented their Visa card issued by First Direct. The branch told the driver it would not accept cards from online banks despite the booking confirmation. Enterprise later confirmed this refusal in writing to the affected customer.

Company admitted staff error

Enterprise Rent-A-Car eventually acknowledged that its terms allow Visa and Mastercard payments but initially ignored requests for expense refunds. The company stated that branch staff made a blunder regarding the specific card issuer. Staff members reportedly became very apologetic three months after the incident occurred.

Customer faced travel costs

The group of ten people had to arrange alternative rail and taxi transport for their holiday plans. These alternative arrangements cost the customer four hundred and forty euros in total expenses. The booking agent refunded the rental fee but the company refused to pay the extra travel costs.
