Leadership change announced immediately

A notice issued Tuesday stated that Dr. Kalyani is no longer in her position effective immediately. CEO Charles Henderson thanked the doctor for her dedication to the organization's mission over the years.

Review of June incident ongoing

The association had previously said its investigation into an incident at a June meeting required more time. This development comes just over six weeks after that initial announcement regarding the need for additional review time.

Earlier security escort event cited

Organizational turmoil began on June 5 when armed security officers escorted five members out of a venue. Those individuals were removed for distributing an editorial published in the journal Diabetes Care that voiced alarm over federal research funding cuts.
