Organization cites written threat

The association stated that security removed the individuals because they received a written warning about potential protest and disruption. Officials acknowledged that their code of conduct did not explicitly forbid distributing materials inside the convention center.

Membership boycott continues

Over 1,100 members have joined a boycott following the expulsions and the subsequent release of conflicting statements. The flagship journal has stopped accepting manuscripts while other educational activities and fundraisers have also ceased operations.

Review process ongoing

The organization posted a news release three days after disclosing the departure of its chief medical officer without explanation. A notice regarding further review was included alongside the initial summary of events.
