History of the exclusive record

Disgraced pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli purchased the sole copy of Once Upon A Time in Shaolin at an auction in 2015. The federal government seized the item and sold it to the crypto art collective PleasrDAO in 2021. This group has permitted the album to be played only at special exhibitions since that sale.

Podcast hosts listening party event

The podcast Pablo Torre Finds Out collaborated with PleasrDAO to organize a session where they played the record for Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man. This was the first time Method Man had heard the album in its entirety. The group recorded the session and made two specific audio snippets available to the public at set timestamps.

Method Man reaction to tracks

During the broadcast, Method Man stated that he does not hate the album after hearing it for the first time. Listeners can access these recordings starting at the 32 minute and 39 minute marks of the show.
