Producer received initial contact offer

Shauna Robertson, the producer of the original film, received a message from someone claiming The Edge wanted to discuss the project. The message stated that the band member had fully written a script for Elf 2. Richter described the situation as one of the weirder stories he has heard.

Project stalled before production began

Robertson agreed to meet with the musician, but the collaboration eventually petered out without resulting in a movie. The script reportedly sat somewhere in the world and never saw the light of day. Richter expressed that he would have loved for the project to be completed.

Another writer created separate draft

Scot Armstrong also penned a different sequel script involving evil South Pole elves kidnapping Santa. Armstrong had previously helped write the original Elf but was not credited for guild reasons. Richter believes the original film should stand alone without needing further sequels.
