The Desert Stars record third album in remote Western Australian shed
Indigenous rock band The Desert Stars recorded their third album in a shed in the Great Victoria Desert during September.

Band members gather for recording
The four-piece group gathered for two weeks in September to learn new songs. Band members live between Tjuntjuntjarra and Kalgoorlie-Boulder, making it difficult to assemble them often.
Songs address land struggles
Lead singer James Minning wrote about the Spinifex people forced off ancestral lands for 1950s nuclear tests. He stated that fighting for land return made him interested in writing songs about country.
Remote project continues legacy
The band released a self-titled debut album in 2003 and has toured extensively since then. A 2022 documentary followed the group on one of their remote tours.
