Swiss labor exploitation drama Enjoy Your Stay premieres in Indonesia
The film Enjoy Your Stay about an undocumented Filipina cleaner in Switzerland has been acquired by Indonesian distributor Falcon for its Jakarta World Cinema premiere.
Filmmakers target migrant worker stories
Directors Dominik Locher and Honeylyn Joy Alipio created the drama after researching cases of Indonesian people working in Swiss nail salons. They hope the movie speaks for these workers who face difficult situations in luxury resorts. The production team merged real-life cases into fiction using a found story approach.
Plot involves trafficking and custody
The story follows Luz, played by Mercedes Cabral, who works extra hard to prevent losing custody of her children. A Swiss gangmaster promises legal documents and higher pay but turns out to be a pipe dream. Luz eventually becomes a labor trafficker herself before the reality of her situation emerges.
Production companies involved in sales
Close Up Films produced the movie while JBA Production served as a co-producer. Be For Films handled the sales for the project distributed by Falcon. The directors first met at the Busan International Film Festival before collaborating on this film.
