Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay will write the screenplay based on their previous work. Scott Derrickson is set to produce the project alongside the director. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Sony obtained the rights from developer Wrong Organ.

Game source material details

The video game follows a crew stranded on a spaceship who lose their grip on reality. This title launched on PC in 2024 and is now available on multiple consoles. The narrative relies on heavy themes rather than relying primarily on jump scares.

Comparison to past successes

Sony hopes this project will replicate the financial success seen with the Resident Evil film adaptation. The new movie aims for a grounded tone instead of the goofier style of earlier entries. A release date has not been announced for the upcoming feature.
