Songwriters Hall of Fame announces 2027 nominees including Lady Gaga and Jack White

The Songwriters Hall of Fame announced its list of nominees for the 2027 induction class on Thursday.

Performing writers on the ballot

The organization released a star-studded list featuring Lady Gaga, Pink, Shakira, Jack White, and Sia. Other performing writers include Boy George, Vince Gill, Debbie Harry, Chris Stein, Billy Gibbons, and Grandmaster Melle Mel. The group also honors members of ZZ Top, America, and WAR.

Non-performing songwriters considered for honor

Non-performing writers such as Pete Bellotte, Stargate, Andreas Carlsson, and Stock Aitken Waterman are also on the list. Boy Meets Girl members George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam qualify for induction due to their work with Whitney Houston. Additional non-performing credits include songs by Dan Wilson and the trio of Feldman, Goldstein, and Gottehrer.

Voting deadline and eligibility rules

Eligible voting members must submit ballots by midnight EST on December 14, 2026. Each voter can select up to three nominees in the songwriter category and three in the performing songwriter category. A songwriter becomes eligible for induction twenty years after their first commercial song release.
