Shawn Levy signs overall deal with Disney 20th Television starting October 2027
Producer Shawn Levy and his company 21 Laps Entertainment have signed an overall deal with Disney's 20th Television to begin work in October 2027.
Levy leaves Netflix for Disney
The producer ends a nine-year tenure at Netflix where he executive produced Stranger Things and directed The Adam Project. This agreement marks his return to the company after directing episodes for Disney Channel shows like The Famous Jett Jackson in the past. He will now develop and produce new projects across the media giant's various platforms under this new contract.
Upcoming Star Wars and Marvel films
Levy is set to direct Lucasfilm's Star Wars: Starfighter and Marvel's Ghost Rider, both of which feature Ryan Gosling. His previous work includes the 2024 MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine alongside several Night at the Museum movies. Disney president Dana Walden described him as a creative partner who brings deeply human stories to wide audiences.
Career history with Fox and Disney
Levy previously worked with executive Dana Walden when both were employed at Fox before he moved to Netflix in 2017. His early directing credits include episodes for So Weird and other television series produced by the channel. The new partnership allows his production company to create content for multiple Disney platforms starting next year.
