Rogen began performing stand-up comedy at a lesbian bar called The Lotus when he was around 16 years old. His parents enrolled him in classes and drove him to clubs, believing he could earn enough money to buy them a house.

After leaving Vancouver, Rogen eventually connected with comedy director Judd Apatow. He also produced two films at this year's festival alongside his daughter Lauren Miller Rogen.
