Saudi Arabia selects A Matter of Life and Death for Oscars
The Saudi Film Commission has chosen Anas Ba Tahaf's movie as the country's entry for the 99th Academy Awards.

Anas Ba Tahaf directs his first film after previously working on a different Saudi comedy. The project was produced by Film Clinic and Arabia Pictures with Front Row Filmed Entertainment handling international sales.
Plot centers on Jeddah
The story takes place in the Red Sea city and features a cursed woman who meets a heart surgeon. Their relationship develops despite one character wanting to die while the other wants to kill.
Film premiered last December
A Matter of Life and Death debuted at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah during December. The movie later opened theatrically across Saudi Arabia in June and earned roughly $600,000 according to Rentrack.
