Sass Jordan singer and Canadian Idol judge dies at age 65
Sass Jordan, a singer and longtime judge on Canadian Idol, died peacefully on October 2 at the age of 65.
Early career in Montreal
Jordan began her recording work in 1986 as a co-lead vocalist for an album by the band Mauve. She became a sought-after session singer in Montreal and appeared in music videos for The Box. Her debut album Tell Somebody earned her a Juno Award in 1989.
Success after moving west
After relocating to Los Angeles in January 1990, she released the album Racine in March 1992. That record sold an estimated 450,000 copies worldwide and became the defining project of her career. Billboard named her its top female rock artist for the year 1992.
Role on television show
She joined the judging panel for Canadian Idol in 2003 as the only woman on the group. Jordan remained a judge for all six seasons of the program before her passing.
