Sarah Snook to star in HBO limited series adaptation of The Birds
HBO is developing a new limited series based on Alfred Hitchcock's film and Daphne du Maurier's novella with Sarah Snook leading the cast.

Project development and production team
Tom Spezialy wrote the pilot script for the upcoming show. David Heyman, Danny Samit, and Jennifer Gabler Rawlings serve as executive producers alongside Snook. The project is a co-production between HBO and Universal Global Television.
Plot details and source material
The official logline describes Myra Massey returning home after a custody battle to investigate a friend's disappearance. She faces personal threats while protecting her daughter from deadly bird attacks linked to the crime. The story draws from Daphne du Maurier's 1952 novella and Hitchcock's 1963 film release.
Sarah Snook returns to HBO
This role marks Snook's return to the premium cable network where she previously starred in Succession. She earned three Emmy nominations and one win during her time on that drama series. Universal Pictures holds the rights to the original story along with the du Maurier estate.
