Historical letter included in sale

The lot includes a letter written by Burton to his sister Hilda from Switzerland. He suggested she give the items to a jumble sale or old colliers. The parcel arrived shortly after he wrote about the shipment.

Additional gift accompanies the clothes

A Pratesi shawl embroidered with the message Hilda and David love Elizabeth is also for sale. Auctioneer Rogers Jones Co expects the two items to fetch up to £1,300. The collection is part of a larger stash of Welsh memorabilia.

Items originate from 1971 shipment

Burton was married five times and twice to Taylor during their film careers. Their relationship began while filming Cleopatra in the 1960s. The auction takes place on Thursday.
