Country singer Reba McEntire told Entertainment Tonight on September 25 that she missed a phone call from Dolly Parton in July, shortly before the icon died of cancer in Nashville on August 25.

McEntire explained to the interviewer that Parton called her during the last week of July. She was attending a meeting at the time and could not answer the phone. McEntire stated she tried to return the call but never managed to reach Parton.
