Pokemon Studio OLM Trains AI Coloring Tool on Three Frames in Japan Project
OLM Digital board director Yotsukura Tatsuo announced the development of an AI coloring tool at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest in Taipei.

Project Origins and Timeline
The tool resulted from ANIMINS, a 15-month research project overseen by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The initiative wrapped in February under the GENIAC generative AI program led by Yotsukura.
Training Method and Speed
An artist colors three frames by hand for the system to learn a show's specific line shapes and palette. The process takes about 90 seconds to adapt before coloring remaining frames in around 15 seconds each.
Workflow Integration and Impact
OLM states the tool fits into existing anime workflows without disrupting current production methods. At the proof-of-concept stage, Yotsukura estimated the technology cut painting workload by around 30 percent.
