Paul McCartney warns director Sam Mendes against casting shorter actor as John Lennon
Paul McCartney told director Sam Mendes to stop filming a scene where his character appears shorter than John Lennon in the upcoming Beatles movies.

McCartney objects to height difference
The musician stated on a podcast that he and his bandmates were roughly the same height, with Ringo Starr being slightly smaller. He expressed concern after seeing a still from the Abbey Road crossing scene where Harris Dickinson playing Lennon loomed over Paul Mescal as McCartney. McCartney sent a text message to Mendes saying, Sam! Smaller? Don't do this!
Previous films faced similar issues
McCartney previously criticized the 2009 film Nowhere Boy for making his character appear shorter than Aaron Taylor-Johnson who played John Lennon. He noted that Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who had a supporting role in that movie, was also shorter than him.
