Early life expectations changed

Doctors predicted she would not live past a few days after birth. Olivia is now 27 years old and speaks fluently. She also dances well enough to play a lead role.

Training at prestigious schools

She completed her final year at a mainstream school before addressing the United Nations in New York. Her career counsellor suggested she study at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts. Olivia told him her next goal was to attend that institution.

Mother praises confidence

Her mother Kerry Read says optimism helps Olivia rise above low expectations. Olivia believes being constantly put down can demotivate people with intellectual impairments. She remains confident despite the challenges she faces daily.
