Netflix unveils first trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew
Netflix released the first trailer for Greta Gerwig's adaptation of C.S. Lewis's novel on Tuesday in New York.
Trailer features magical ring and Aslan
The clip opens with Daniel Craig's Andrew Ketterley giving children a ring that transports them to new lands. The soundtrack uses Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven while the footage shows mythical creatures and beasts. Meryl Streep voices Aslan, the lion who sings Narnia into existence during the sequence.
Cast includes Emma Mackey and David McKenna
Emma Mackey plays Jadis, the future White Witch, while newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell portray Digory and Polly. The story follows these two children as they discover the Wood between the Worlds in Edwardian England. This adaptation serves as an origin story for the fantasy kingdom before it appears in other books.
Film opens theatrically in February
The movie will have an eight-week theatrical window starting on 12 February before streaming on Netflix on 2 April. This release marks the studio's first global theatrical launch for a film directed by Gerwig since Barbie.
