Production and Screenplay Details

The movie was written by Eleanor Catton, Conor McPherson, Joel Coen, and Ethan Coen. It is adapted from Frances Frederica Montrésor's 1901 novel The Alien: A Story of Middle Age. Production wrapped in Glasgow late last year after the initial cut ran nearly 150 minutes.

Cast and Creative Team

Olivier Award winner Patsy Ferran stars alongside Golden Globe winner Josh O'Connor and Damian Lewis. Oscar nominee Lesley Manville also appears in the sinister tale set in 1880s Scotland. Joel Coen directs this project as his second solo outing after The Tragedy of Macbeth.

Production Partners

Joel Coen produces the film with Robert Graf and Frances McDormand. Additional producers include Steven Rales, Graham Broadbent, and Peter Czernin from Blueprint Pictures. The deal caps a sales process that Variety first reported on in August.
