Movistar Plus Unveils New Spanish Film Slate at San Sebastian
Movistar Plus CEO Alfonso Gómez Palacio announced a new slate of Spanish film and television projects on Sunday at the San Sebastián Film Festival.

Leadership Changes Drive Strategy
The presentation marked the first public appearance for CEO Alfonso Gómez Palacio. He was joined by Juan Andrés García Romero, who became director of contents in May. This leadership team aims to make Movistar Plus the most relevant platform for clients and the Spanish audiovisual industry.
Commitment to Weekly Releases
García Romero stated that the company will release a new Spanish film every week of the year. This plan builds on an earlier July commitment to double annual original series from eight to sixteen titles. The strategy confirms a broader aim to expand production, co-production, and acquisitions within Spain.
Diverse Director Lineup Announced
The new slate includes projects from Fernando León, JA Bayona, Paco Leon, and Los Moriarti. Other directors attached to the lineup include Daniel Monzón, Sandra Romero, and Cristóbal Garrido and Adolfo Valor. The initiative offers unique propositions for Spanish content that other platforms cannot provide.
